Blush + Gold Wedding Invitation for a Venetian Celebration

Venice, Italy; a place of magic, romance and mystery. Having visited this magnificent city in the last few years – and it being one of my favorite places in the world – I was absolutely over the moon when Maria told me that she and Domingos were to have their wedding celebration there. I chatted with Maria about her wedding details and got to know her and Domingos a little before setting to work on their suite. Maria put her full trust in me creatively, letting me take the direction for the paper products where ever my creative mind would go. As any designer knows, this is not only a huge compliment but also an amazing way to stretch your mind creatively! With general inspiration from Maria and knowing her color scheme of blush and gold I set off creating…

I presented Maria and Domingos with several different designs and Maria was absolutely ecstatic about the book option. Being a destination wedding, and having to convey a bit of information to their guests I thought this was the perfect packaging option.

The front cover of the book was inspired by a vintage book cover that perhaps you’d find on a bookshelf of an old villa in Venice. Each book was hand sewn and the spine featured a luxurious gold silk which added such a wonderful rich texture.

The inside covers of the book featured a beautiful gold and white marble paper, which again, was a nod to books of old time. The first page included a quote from Maria of an old Italian Proverb.

The next spread was the main wedding invitation. Maria loves roses, and was going to be incorporating them on their special day so I made sure to include them somewhere in the suite.

This suite incorporated so many custom artwork details, one of which was the Venice canal scene featuring their reception venue (on the far right).

Another place we incorporated custom artwork was on the next spread, using Maria and Domingos’ ceremony location – a stunning church in the heart of Venice.

The last spread in the book held the reply card and envelope for guests to respond to each event.

Of course we had to finish with a bang! The back cover of the book featured a custom watercolor of a Venice canal scene. I loved this detail!!

Each of these stunning books was mailed in a blush envelope with gold calligraphy and, of course, adorned with another custom stamp of the watercolor scene on the back of the book.

These invitations definitely go down in the books as one of my all time favorites to work on. Not only were Maria and Domingos a dream to work with and design for, I really had fun stretching my mind creatively to come up with new and wonderful ideas for Maria to covey all the information she needed to, all while being inspired by one of the most beautiful cities on earth.
